Overview

TC4 tc4.it ↗

We designed and built TC4.Core from scratch for TC4 Srls—an Italian industrial software company in which TIBALDI holds an equity stake.

It is designed as a hybrid product: available as a multi-tenant SaaS in the cloud, and deployable on-prem via Docker when strict network boundaries are required.

Rather than shipping a single-purpose vertical app, we engineered a configurable operations platform that can adapt to multiple domains: industrial monitoring, document-centric workflows, and internal team operations.

The problem

  • Industrial and operational workflows change. Hardcoding every new entity, field, and rule quickly becomes a maintenance trap.
  • Operators need a fast UI for dashboards and fullscreen visualization—without forcing teams into a rigid data model.
  • Deployments often run inside protected LAN environments, where reliability and auditability matter more than “demo speed”.

What we built

Entity-driven platform
  • Custom entity types defined via UI—built to be abstract and extensible
  • Custom fields managed entirely from admin—types, validation, and per-field settings
  • Field dependency rules for conditional behavior and guided data entry
  • Users, roles, and permissions designed for real production governance
Data + visualization
  • Per-machine data sources: CSV, web APIs, external databases, and local folders
  • Widgets and dashboards with drag & drop configuration
  • Fullscreen monitoring surfaces built for large displays and shop-floor visibility
  • Tabular views + exports for reporting and operational handoffs

Files & document workflows

TC4.Core includes a protected file repository layer—both global and entity-scoped—to support document-heavy processes without relying on ad-hoc shared folders.

Files can be attached directly to entity fields, with storage organized per entity type and record.

Security & on-prem deployment

Many operational environments require strict network boundaries. TC4.Core supports on‑prem deployments via Docker, typically within a protected LAN.

This keeps sensitive process data close to the plant, reduces external dependencies, and simplifies governance for industrial IT teams.

Industrial integration (optional OPC UA)

For industrial contexts, we built an optional OPC UA bridge (TC4.OPCUA) as a separate service to connect to machines safely.

That integration can be used to read machine signals (status, alarms, counters) and to support controlled command flows—such as production order handoffs—when required by the workflow.

Outcomes

  • Faster iteration: new entities and fields can be introduced without reopening the entire codebase.
  • Higher reliability in production: predictable deployments, clear permissions, and operational hygiene.
  • Reduced human error through guided data entry and rule-driven field behavior.
  • Improved visibility: monitoring surfaces and dashboards designed for real operators.

Partnership model

TC4.Core is not a one-off delivery. It is a partner product we continue to evolve with TC4 Srls—aligning roadmap, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

That ownership and continuity is part of how TIBALDI operates: we build systems meant to last, and we stay accountable for their evolution.
